Tank Dents
Motorcycle tanks can be a very costly item to replace, with scratches and even small dents seriously affecting your motorbikes looks and value. Light damage can usually be spot repaired for a small fraction of the cost of a new tank. The varied shapes and contours in a modern tank inherently add to its strength so pulling or blowing the dent out is not normally an option.
I will not cut and re-weld tanks as I prefer not to upset the integrity of the tank. All paint is therefore removed from the damaged area, the bare metal is prepared and the dent is filled using various fillers depending on the damage, it is then re shaped and sanded back to its original contours. The repair is then primed, smoothed and colour matched. Normally 3 coats of lacquer are applied and when fully cured it is polished to a high gloss finish.
